Valentine's Day

It's a month late but I'm still going to post our Valentine's Day pictures. I love being able to look back on past years' posts so I feel like I have to post pictures even though it's crazy late.

The kids both had two Valentine's outfits so the day before Valentine's day I dressed them all up and got some pictures. They just looked so cute!

That night I made a little treat for Adalyn to take to her friends at the sitter's house and we made up some Valentine treat bags for her friends.
My little man was happy and smiley getting his cute Valentine outfit on the next morning.

Of course we had to get some pictures before they went to the sitter. I love these two! Seriously. They are holding hands. Melt.

Adalyn was so excited to show us the two Valentine's cards she made us at daycare when I picked her up. Here is one of them. So cute. I love that her sitter does these types of crafts with the kids. Adalyn LOVES them!

We got the kids (and each other) a couple little gifts and I decorated the table with hearts. We also picked up a heart shaped pizza and some delicious cupcakes. We gave Adalyn full access to a cupcake and she was into it! She pretty much finished that thing off!

Of course she had to take breaks to clean her face off. It is so funny how much she loves napkins.
And back for more. I think she ate all of that icing! She's her mama's girl!
My boys.
He is seriously the happiest baby. Eat.Him.Up.
 He loves his daddy.
Waiting so patiently to open presents.

I have so many wonderful memories of the little holidays like Valentine's Day growing up. I know that some people don't really celebrate, but I remember my mom always making such a big deal of making a pretty table and special (red) foods for Valentine's day. I want to create the same types of wonderful memories for my family. I try to decorate the house for each holiday and when the Valentine's stuff came out a few weeks ago Adalyn ran around the house pointing out all the hearts. It makes me realize that all the work of putting the decorations up is so worth it when I see everything through her eyes. I'm so blessed with wonderful parents and a wonderful husband and kids. I feel loved!

Daddy Daughter Dance

The week before Valentine's day Jonathan took Adalyn to Her Knight Dance. She was old enough to attend this year and I was so excited for them to have this experience together. I just wish I could have gone to watch:) The weeks leading up to the dance, Jonathan talked to Adalyn about it and would practice dancing with her in the living room. I helped her try on dresses and each one she would run in to the next room to show her daddy. It was so cute how excited she was for her date night.

The week of the dance was the week that RSV hit our house. I was hoping that Adalyn was on the mend by that Saturday because she was much less congested. After I got her dressed and we were taking pictures, she just kept crying and pulling on her ear. (The day before Cayden had been diagnosed with an ear infection so that got me worrying.) Thankfully one call to her doctor and we got an antibiotic called in for her. Jonathan and Adalyn headed to the dance while I took care of the doctor and pharmacy calls.

Before they left, I got a bunch of almost-crying/barely-smiling pictures. She just was not herself.  Jonathan gave Adalyn and me pearl necklaces and bracelets last Valentine's Day, so this was the perfect time for her to wear her set. She was so excited to wear them.
She just seems so old wearing her big girl jewelry. These pictures melt my  heart.

This was her dress from Easter last year. I was so excited that it still fit her! Adorable.
 I love those curls!

 Kisses!

Adalyn was just not herself and less than an hour into the dance she was asking to go home and go "night night". But I know that she made some good memories with her daddy while she was there.

The dance was in a banquet hall barn on the property of the horse race track and was catered by Chick-fil-a. The pictures that Jonathan sent me from his phone look like the place was decorated to the nines. He said Adalyn loved the chandelier.  All of the glam made it so exciting for all the little girls. I asked Jonathan to take lots of pictures during the night since I couldn't be there to witness it. He told me that he wasn't going to be taking pictures all night because he wanted to just enjoy it. Well, he ended up texting me tons pictures. He said that all of the moms must have had strict orders for the dads to take pictures because he said everyone was doing the same thing he was doing. hehe.
Eating her dessert. Jonathan said he could tell she didn't feel good when she only ate one bite of her cookie. Poor thing!

They had tiaras for each of the little girls and a professional photographer for pictures. Here is the picture that they got. I think Adalyn's face is awesome!
Since Chick-fil-a was one of the sponsors, there were three different cows around during the night. One was even in a princess dress and the girls could dance with the cows. In the past, when we've gone to the CFA on kids night and the cow is around, Adalyn enjoys seeing it across the room but not up close. But after dancing with it at the dance she is now INTO the cow at the restaurant. Last week when we went to kids night, I told Adalyn where we were going and she ran to her closet and pointed to the dress she wore and told me she wanted to wear it. I tried to explain that we were just going to the restaurant and not a dance. When we got there the cow came to say hi and she talked to it about dancing. So CUTE!
After the dance Adalyn didn't want to take her crown off.  All the girls got a set of pearls at the dance with an explanation that they are precious treasures from God. She was sporting both of her necklaces that night.

She even kept her crown on with her pjs.
I love that even though she wasn't feeling the best, she obviously had a great time and it has stuck with her in her little memory. This will definitely be a yearly tradition. I love the way Jonathan and Adalyn love each other!

So Far this February

I didn't plan to take a month long blogging break, but life happened. We have been busy busy and then on top of it 3 out of 4 of the people living under our roof came down with RSV. I am the only one that stayed well during the outbreak. While we were going through 25 boxes of Puffs Plus, the blog was furthest from my thoughts. So here we are with a month of pictures that I need to post in order to keep documentation of our family scrapbook.

The first part of the month we actually got a good amount of snow! It was gone in about 3 days, but we were able to enjoy it while it lasted. Last winter we never had enough snow to accumulate so Adalyn had never really been able to play in snow. At one point she fell in it and wasn't sure if she was going to be upset or not and then looked up and decided it was fun. But she was a bit worried that her pants were "dirty" since they were covered with snow.

This month was also Cayden's transition into the big tub. He's just too big to keep doing kitchen sink baths. I found Adalyn's old bath seat for Cayden to use, but now I've just been doing his baths with him laying in the tub. He was just too slippery in the little seat and I didn't want him to get hurt. I think he really likes this big tub!

My parents also came to visit this month. Thankfully they were already planning on coming in town when Cayden and Adalyn came down with RSV. It was so helpful to have them around when both kids were so very sick. We needed the extra hands and help during the nights. We didn't get many pictures since we stayed home in pjs all weekend, but we did get a few cute pics before the left after the kids were feeling a bit better.

Valentine's Day and Father/Daughter Date night will need their own separate posts. Here's hoping I can find some time to write them before Easter:)
