Monday Randomness

Every weekend going forward will be crazy busy and of course this one was no different.  Let's go back to Thursday night.  We went to Lowe's (I wish they had reward points since we seem to spend a lot of time and money there!) to get some wire shelving for the nursery closet.  It's an inexpensive way to get serious organization and I'm pretty excited about it.  (Hopefully they will get installed next weekend!)  After Lowes, we went to Old Navy, Gap, and Motherhood to look for a dress. I have a shower and wedding to go to next weekend and then my baby showers start the weekend afterwards so I knew I needed at least one dress. (Thankfully I found 2 on sale and we won't talk about how tent-like they look!)

Friday I finally broke down and called my Doctor's office to check on my glucose test and yes I PASSED! No 3 hour test for me! YAY!  And I was well within range.  What was not within range was my iron.  It was quite low and I'm now on a supplement for it.  Hopefully the supplement will help with my fatigue.

After work, we went shopping for the shower and wedding this next weekend and then I introduced Jonathan to his first consignment sale!  Boy was he excited (can you sense my intense sarcasm?)  It was a small sale compared to the last sale I was at and they didn't have as high of standards for the clothes, so I didn't find anything worth buying in that category.  We did find a couple pregnancy books for $2 that I was planning on buying anyway. Then as we were standing in line with Billie and Derek, Derek spotted a Bumbo box under a table so Jonathan ran over to check it out.  Sure enough it was a brand new pink Bumbo with a tray for $25 (normally $50)  SCORE! I got home and immediately took that off the registry!

Saturday morning bright and early, Jonathan got to witness his 2nd ever consignment sale.  This sale had a way better selection of clothes and we got a bunch of great deals (even a way cute pink overall jumper with a UK logo embroidered on it with its tags still on!) And we got an arm-full of kids' books for next to nothing!  Jonathan was a good shopper!

Then I went with Billie, Lindsy and Courtney to the 2 Chicks Annual Barnyard Sale! Everything outside is 50% off and inside is 20% off and I got some great jewelry (hey, it's the only thing that still fits!) and a few cute decorations for the nursery.  I keep gathering decorations in the hopes that when I finally get to the point of hanging and placing, it will all look cute!

We have a dinner club with our Sunday School class where we sign up and every 4 months they put together new groups of 4 couples and each month we go to each others' houses to have dinner together.  Since our class has at least 70 people in it, it's a great way to make deeper relationships.  I was to bring a dessert Saturday night, so I decided to make The Pioneer Woman's Raspberry Cream Pie.  It was sooo easy and a HUGE hit!  I totally recommend making it.  It's a perfect light summery dessert.

Sunday we went to church and Sunday school.  Then we decided to try a new burger joint which was not good. Boo!  Living in a college town, there are usually fun new places to try out each school year, unfortunately I don't think this one will last!  (Yes, it's also called Hugh Jass Burgers.  Seriously.)  Then since we were on campus, Jonathan took me past his new office!  I'm so impressed.  He went from the nastiest building on campus to the newest building which also happens to be the largest pharmacy educational building in the world! It was beautiful! I'm so proud of him and happy for him!

Sunday afternoon, Billie came over and we started one of my sewing projects!  I'm soo excited about it.  It was time consuming to actually set up, but I think it will be so worth it when I finally finish it!!  You'll just have to wait for pictures until it is finished!

If you made it to the bottom of this crazy long and wordy post then I am so impressed!  Thanks for sticking with me!  Hopefully every Monday post wont be quite this long!

29 Weeks

Yesterday ended week 29!  I cannot believe I am now in my 30th week!!  I pretty much did my recap in my appointment post on Monday, so I don't have much new to share.  I'm still waiting to hear back from my Doctor's office about whether I passed my glucose test.

Here is my picture from yesterday.  I don't think it's much of a difference from last week even though I feel much bigger!
According to What to Expect, Adalyn is about the size of a butternut squash and is about 17in and 3.1 lbs.  This week her brain is growing.  Now her added fat and her brain are regulating her body temperature!

Our baby showers start in two weeks (other than J's work shower of course)!!  I'm so excited!  I got both my family's and J's family's shower invitations in the mail yesterday!  So we will be traveling and out and about in the month of September!  It will be so nice to see family and friends from out of town that we don't see often!  I can't wait!

Ultrasound Pics and Dr. Appointment

Friday we had our 28 week Doctor's appointment!  I started off the appointment by drinking my orange glucose drink.  I have to say this about it...Everyone talks about gagging it down and how absolutely horrible it is.  Yes, it was like drinking syrup and burned my throat on the way down, but seriously?  I have tasted WAY worse.  So I was actually surprised that it went down as well as it did.  I should get those results sometime early this week.  Let's pray I passed!!  I really don't want to go back for the 3 hour test!

While we were waiting the hour for the test, we went back for the ultrasound!  I had an ultrasound tech that I had never had before and she was so sweet.  She took so much time with the ultrasound and we had a great time seeing our little girl.  She asked where we worked and when I told her that I work at Southland, she said that is where she goes to church.  Pretty awesome.  That is one thing about working at a church, people ask all the time where you work and when I tell them, it always leads to a conversation about it.  Anyway, without even asking her to, she switched to 3D and 4D to get some pictures of our sweet baby girl!  She was oohing and aahing just as much as we were looking at her smile!  After drinking that sugar drink I was quite surprised that Adalyn was so inactive during the ultrasound.  She just slept away curled up with her arms across her face and her legs all curled up.  But we were able to get some angles of her face!  (Of course she was kicking and moving all around when we went back to the waiting room after the ultrasound!)

Here are some pictures of Adalyn and her little chubby cheeks (2D, 4D and then 3D)!  She is 2.8 lbs and her head circumference is only in the 34th percentile.  I will take a small head thankyouverymuch! :)  She's already taking after her daddy:)
My appointment went well.  My blood pressure is low and I was told that my swelling and aches and pains are normal and unless my blood pressure increases, there is nothing to be worried about!  So that is good!  I didn't write on here why I was having this extra ultrasound because we thought the issue would go away, but it hasn't.  My doctor isn't concerned about it, but at this point my placenta is low.  My doctor says that we still have time for it to move to where it should be before delivery, but it's hard not to think about the "what if".  Either way, Adalyn is safe; it just makes a difference in the delivery if the placenta has not moved.  We will have another ultrasound in 6 weeks to check it again.  I am choosing to not worry about it (as much as I can) and just be thrilled that I get to see pictures of my little girl again in 6 weeks!

So all in all, we have a healthy little girl and a healthy pregnancy!

Nursery paint and some crafts

This weekend Jonathan and my dad were hard at work on the nursery.  It took a very long time for us to pick out two colors of pink that were in the same color family.  Please look at the before picture to see just how many different swatches were painted on the wall.  Thank goodness for sample paint sizes!

We had a bit of a "freak-out moment" after my dad painted the "light" color on the entire wall and it ended up being the exact color that was supposed to be the "dark" color on the bottom of the wall.  We had had a formula mixed at Lowe's and I guess it looked lighter in a sample than in a gallon.  So thanks to my parents for some quick thinking, we bought a gallon of white paint and added that to 2/3 of a gallon of the "dark" paint and they came up with the "light" color for the walls.  So it scared me but it ended up working in the long run!

While my mom and I were at Beth Moore on Saturday the guys installed the chair rail and it just pulled the room together!  I think they did a great job!  Jonathan has never installed a chair rail before and I love the finished look. (Look out J that means that we for sure will have a DIY project sometime in the future installing chair rails in the dining room!)  For the cost of the chair rail, it's a fairly inexpensive way to completely transform a room!

After the paint was dried on the chair rail, trim and inside the closet, the guys put the crib together and moved the furniture in! (We are still waiting on a chest and a glider on order.)  The room finally looks like it's a nursery!!  Here are a few pictures so you can see it start to come together.  Wall decorations will come soon enough!

Don't worry Dakota we're not going to forget about you!  Doesn't he look confused?
Those items will obviously not stay on the changing table once the rest of the furniture is in the room...
Nicely painted closet with a bunch of consignment clothes.  I can't wait to organize the closet by adding another row of shelving and putting full doors on it!
Jonathan and my dad also installed a ceiling fan!  I wanted a dimming overhead light so I'm excited Jonathan was able to do that!  Unfortunately I don't have a before picture of the horrible light fixture that was in here to begin with, but it was the same fixture that had been in the guest room.  Do you remember this a few months back?  It was A) ugly B) looked like it was 50 years old and C) gave off the worst yellow light.  So now we have this wonderful fan.  (I know fans aren't the most decorative thing in a room, but it is completely necessary in this room.)

And can you tell I've been at Hobby Lobby and Hancock?  I got everything 50 to 60% off at both stores!  Here are three different projects that I can't wait to start!!
You'll just have to wait to see what gets made... :)  I'm pretty excited about it!

28 Weeks

So I finished my 28th week on Tuesday, which means I have now started my 8th month!!!  I had so many posts this week that I'm way behind in posting my belly shot!  I had a meeting at work Tuesday night and would you believe that neither Jonathan nor I remembered that it was belly picture day??  So this is my 28 week 1 day picture (in the nursery!!)

According to What to Expect, Adalyn is the size of a small cabbage, 17 in, 2.9lbs.  She is so active now.  She moves around all the time!  Sometimes she kicks or punches and they are big movements, but many times I just feel her shifting around and moving.  And sometimes you can just see little ripples in my stomach.  It's so precious!  What isn't quite as precious is the lovely stretch marks she has given me that just keep growing.  But oh well.  That comes with it.  I knew I wasn't going to get out of this whole ordeal without stretch marks.

I have had some swelling issues.  It was pretty bad after sitting still for multiple hours at the Beth Moore Conference last weekend.  Since we were in the arena there was no leg space and my entire legs and feet were very swollen.  Thanks to my husband two weeks ago, he bought me a foot rest to keep under my desk at work so that I can prop up my feet.  I think it is really helping.  In the last two days, the crazy 105 temperatures and humidity have subsided and lo and behold, my feet look quite normal!  Yay!  My mom and J wanted me to call the doctor on Monday when my swelling was so bad over the weekend.  But I held off because I figure it's just another one of those lovely side effects of pregnancy to teach me humility.  I'll talk to the nurse about it at my appointment today, but I'm sure it's normal with how stinkin hot this summer has been!

Speaking about my appointment...Today is my BIG appointment!  I'm going in to have a normal check up, blood work, my glucose test, and another ultrasound!  I can't wait to see Adalyn again!!  I'm really hoping the ultrasound tech will switch over to 3D for me so I can really see her!  I can barely wait!!!  Here's hoping I pass my glucose test the first time around!

I Won!! I Won!!

I entered a giveaway a week ago at Shannon's blog, Bless Our Nest and I won!!!  The contest was for a diaper/wipe pouch from Lindsey at Egg On The Head.  You can check out her cute store on Etsy here or check out her blog here.  She uses really cute designer fabrics and what a perfect time for me to win a baby item! :)

Shannon and Lindsey were both great to work with and yesterday when I got home from work guess what was in my mail!!!

I absolutely love it!  And I love the fabric she chose!  It's not baby-ish, which is one of my complaints with a lot of baby gear.  It looks like fabric I would make a bag out of, so I know I'll feel stylish when I'm cleaning up poo! :)  Thanks girls!!! I love it and can't wait for Adalyn to be here so I can use it!

Jonathan's Work Shower

We had our first shower last Friday!  Jonathan's work gave him a shower/going away party before he leaves the department this week.  The ladies (and a couple guys, but I'm willing to bet it was only the ladies) that Jonathan works with planned a full pink shower!

They had some serious decorations throughout the entire office.
They had a great spread of food!
There was even a precious cupcake-cake!
One of the stipulations in the invitation was that everyone in the office had to wear pink shirts.  Good thing my man is all about wearing pink!  I think it's sweet that the whole office got into it!
The office went together and bought Adalyn's highchair!  How exciting!  Our first piece of baby gear!  Wasn't that soo sweet?
And one of Jonathan's coworkers bought us the most precious sundress for next summer!  What I would have given to watch Jonathan open up a cutsie little pink sundress and bloomers:)
I was told that they even played games!  (No pictures to prove it!)

Of course as soon as we got home Friday night Jonathan had to do the daddy thing and put together the new high chair!  It was so fun to watch him put it together! It's fun to picture Adalyn using it one day:)
I think it was so sweet of his office to go all out for our little baby girl!

Beth, a birthday and some decorating

This has been another crazy busy weekend.  I have a feeling that I will be typing that after every weekend from now on!  I have so much to share and I'm so exhausted that I can barely think straight to type a sentence.  I told my mom that I think I push myself extra hard to do things when they are in town visiting so that we can squeeze everything that we need to get done into the short time they are visiting us.

The reason my parents came to visit us this weekend was so my mom could go to see Beth Moore with Billie and me.  None of us had ever seen her in person so we were extremely excited to go to the conference!  She packed out the lower arena at Rupp.  There were over 11,000 women from 29 states!  CRAZY seeing that many women in one place!  Beth did not disappoint.  She spoke on "Eat, Pray, Love" from Jeremiah and it was great!  Saturday morning somehow we were running early!?! and we got to the arena before the doors were opened so we had awesome seats for the Saturday session!  We were only about 8 rows up into the bleachers.  It was worth waking up at 5:30!  We had a great time and learned a lot!

My dad's birthday was last weekend so we celebrated his birthday while he was here.  He liked his cute golf cake!

The other items this weekend were a baby shower given by Jonathan's work, painting the nursery, assembling furniture, installing a chair rail and a ceiling fan!  I have so many pictures from those events that they will have to be their own posts.  I'm worried if I try to do one post with that many pictures it might be the longest post ever!  So you'll just have to wait.  But just know that I'm loving the nursery so far and cannot wait to start decorating and accessorizing the room!!

27 Weeks

Yesterday was the end of week 27!  So you know what that means!!!  I am now in my 3rd trimester!  SO crazy to think about!  I cannot believe that I only have 90 days left until my due date!  I'm a little in a state of shock about it all! I don't think there is much difference in my picture from last week and this week, but I feel like my belly has taken on a new shape.  It seems less all around-round and more straight out from my body-round.  If that makes any sense:)
According to What to Expect, Adalyn is about 16 inches and 2.5 lbs.  She's about the size of a head of cauliflower.  She should now be blinking, coughing, sucking and breathing better.  Usually babies born this early can survive with lots of medical attention.  (Adalyn, you can stay put for another 12 weeks!  We don't need that kind of scare!)

I'm still deciding on colors for the nursery (why do I have to be such a perfectionist??) and that will be this weekend's project for Jonathan and my dad!  I can't wait to see it all completed!  Once we get the furniture in the room, then I can start envisioning decorations... my favorite part!!! :)

Jonathan's work is throwing him a baby shower this Friday before he moves departments.  Isn't that sweet!  This will be our first shower!!  How exciting.  Don't think that I won't be sending the camera along with him to work that day to get a picture of everyone in the office wearing pink and him opening gifts! :)

Taking Over...

Boxes of baby furniture...
have taken over our guest room...
until the nursery is painted this weekend.

Mom and dad, I hope you don't mind living among boxes this weekend... at least there is a path to the bed.?! :)  The good part is that as soon as the guys are finished painting, these can go into the nursery and then decorating can begin!!!

Busy Weekend!

Our weekend has been jam packed full of go go go!  Yesterday I looked at Jonathan and asked him if every single weekend until November 9th was going to be this crazy!  I miss normal hang around the house weekends.  But there is just too much to do to hang around the house!  Our poor house and yard are seeing the effect of this.

Friday started out my fun weekend.  I had a birthday dinner with Billie and Lindsy at Regatta Seafood!  You all... I did it again...No, I didn't wear that same tank top for the third time...

I just cannot resist a pair of pumps.  And unfortunately Regatta has little to no parking so walking to and from the restaurant was not so fun.  But the food was amazing!!!  And it was so much fun to have a girl's night with my two favorite girls!  We didn't get a picture of us in the restaurant so this is a picture from outside the restaurant.  I had a wonderful night!  Thanks girls!!! I love you!
My girlfriends know me so well and are both so generous.  Please look at these fun gifts they gave me!!

Billie got me this apothecary jar!  I love it!!!  Now I need to figure out what to put in it:)  It looks soo great on my buffet!
Lindsy clued me in to the Tervis Tumbler craze that I hadn't heard about and gave me this fun tervis tumbler with my initial. I need to stay hydrated!  And she gave Adalyn her first giant hair bow!  I LOVE it!!!  I cannot wait to see it on her precious little head!
Saturday morning Billie and I woke up bright and early to go to the Lil Lambs consignment sale.  It only comes around twice a year and since it was Saturday most of the stuff was 50% off!  This was my first baby consignment sale and it was soo much fun.  I filled up my laundry basket (they don't have carts) to overflowing and got some amazing deals.  I got the same Bundle Me (in the same color) that I had registered for at Babies R Us for only $4!!!  And Adalyn scored some great name brand clothes for under $5 each!  They also had some new items to buy that were donated to the sale... bows and hats.  I went a bit crazy because the prices were so great!  See for yourself...
(They came 3 to a pack so I wasn't completely insane:))  The UK hair band is Jonathan's favorite!  I bought it just for him!  Adalyn's going to be a precious little UK cheerleader this football/basketball season!

When I got home, Jonathan and I went to buy the nursery furniture.  The store had the crib and changing table/dresser in stock so after a crazy afternoon of trying to borrow then rent and then find a friend with a truck and two trips to the other side of town, we now have the furniture in our house!  We do have a chest of drawers that is on order but I'm so excited that we got to take the two pieces with us!  We will not be taking them out of the boxes until the painting is finished, but you can bet that as soon as the paint is dried the crib will be put together with all of the bedding:)  I'm so excited!

...Which brings us to the four different colors of sample pinks that are on the nursery walls.  Do you remember how many colors of green I had in my kitchen/living room?  I have issues deciding on the Perfect Color!  I have been told by my precious husband that I will be making a decision before the end of the week so he can get started.

Those things along with a ton of other stuff kept us hopping all weekend but we were able to get a lot finished!  I think we even found a fun chandelier for Adalyn's room...

26 Weeks

Yesterday ended my 26th week!  I think I say this every week, but seriously the weeks are flying by!!  Everything is going well.  I'm happy to report that I really think my aqua fitness class is helping with my muscle and ligament pains!  My next appointment is in two weeks so I should have lots of fun stuff to report after that appointment since we'll get to see Adalyn!!!  I can't believe that I am this close to my 3rd trimester! wow!  I thought these 10 months would crawl by but they really haven't!

According to What to Expect, Adalyn is now measured from her head to her toes (instead of her rump) so she should be around 15 inches and about 2.2lbs!  Her weight has doubled from four weeks ago!  She can hear better now, which is probably why sometimes when Jonathan talks to her she kicks back.  It is so precious!  The other night I really think she was trying to talk to him!  Back and forth!  Her taste buds are developed now and did you know that she has more taste buds now than she will have outside the womb?  Crazy!  I think she really enjoyed my yummy birthday cake:)  She is extremely active now at certain times of the day/evening and I love feeling her do her acrobatics!

We have finally chosen furniture for the nursery!  YAY!  I knew it would all start to come together.  We haven't purchased it yet, but hopefully this weekend we will be doing that!  I also have about 4 different sets of pink paint chips that I'm trying to choose from to paint her nursery.  Painting will begin next week so that will be exciting!!  We also registered this past weekend because Jonathan's office is throwing him a baby shower before he leaves the department (which is why it's so early).  It was more fun to register than I thought it would be.  Don't get me wrong...it was exhausting and so many decisions, but it was fun to picture Adalyn using all of the stuff!  Everything we do lately just keeps making it more and more real!

My 29th

Today is my 29th birthday!  I am well aware that I only have one more year in my 20's.  When I used to think about being in my 30's it seemed like it was sooo old.  Now, most all of my friends are 30 and here I am, one year away.  So crazy how fast time moves.  I can only imagine once Adalyn comes along, how fast time will fly then!  I did have one thing I wanted to do before I turned 30 and that was to be a mommy!

My wonderful husband took me out to a new to us restaurant called Rossi's.  It was delicious and we were in a round booth and had the place to ourselves.  (He had tried to make reservations here for our anniversary and had called two weeks in advance and they were booked up.  Guess people don't eat at fancy restaurants on Monday nights! HA!)

Here is a picture in the car before we went inside.  My poor husband had been to the eye specialist and his eyes were dilated (they must have used the strong stuff because after dinner he still had issues seeing from a 2:00 appointment!) so a couple pictures we took looked like his eyes were shut:)
At our table.  I'm just going to go ahead and say it... Yes, that is the same shirt that I wore out last week to Billie's birthday at PF Changs.  Do you know how hard it is to find cute "going out" shirts in maternity?  Well it's pretty much impossible which is why that shirt is from Loft and not a maternity store.  I saw it and just had to have it!  I love ruffles and embellishments and those are few and far between in maternity.  Now I have a problem because I'm going out with the girls Friday night for my birthday and I CANNOT wear that same shirt for a third time out.  Maybe I'll go back to Loft and buy it in another color! HA!
Here is the "view from here".  My precious husband bought me these shoes last year for a wedding and I never have the opportunity to wear them.  So yes, I did it.  I wore another pair of 4 inch heels.  You all, I have issues feeling dressed up unless I have serious high heels on.  And I mean serious.  And for some reason, even though my feet ache from all this extra weight, I cannot kick the feeling that going out to a nice restaurant means some sexy pumps!
Here's a better view of the actual shoes:)  It was actually J's idea for me to wear them tonight.  I had red pumps on and he thought I should wear pink and I'm glad I did.  Even if I did walk from the car into the house after dinner in my bare feet:)
Last year we had a bit of an issue with my birthday cake.  I'm not going to get into it.  So this year I was soo excited that he got me a VERY cute and VERY delicious cake!!!  How cute is this?

And a belly shot with the cake!  That way I can always remember just how huge I was on my 29th!  Let's just hope I'm not this same size by my 30th:) Hahaha!  Notice that the shoes are long gone.  Dakota really wanted a lick of that chocolate.  Right before J snapped this picture Dakota jumped up and almost reached that cake.  (He jumps like he has springs in his feet!)  I was laughing so hard!
My birthday present was my Canon Rebel a couple weeks ago but J got me a little something to open!  He got me a new case for my iphone which I've needed for months but just haven't gone out to buy one!  And it's cute!  Thanks J!!  And J's mom and sister gave me a certificate for a massage at The Baby Belly.  I'm sooo thoroughly excited to take full advantage of that!!  It's pretty much a dream come true to this fat lady with an aching back!  My parents are bringing my gift in a couple weeks when they come to go to Beth Moore (mom) and paint (dad) but they did send me a certificate for a pedicure!!!  What more could a pregnant girl ask for on her birthday?  A little technology and a lot of pampering!  Just what the doctor ordered:)
