Jonathan's Half Marathon

Jonathan has been running for over a year now and this past weekend he ran in his first half marathon. Both his mom and my parents were in town so we all went to cheer him on. The half was at Keeneland which is our horse racing location. The finish line was actually right near the barn where Adalyn and Jonathan's daddy/daughter dance was.

It was a beautiful morning for a race. It was sunny and a bit brisk but warmed up into the day. Jonathan told me that he wanted to finish in 2 hours or less but that his goal was 1:45. From what I've found at all of his other races, he always blows away his goal so I started looking at him around 1:15 thinking he'd be close to 1:30. He ended up finishing at 1:37 which is quite amazing especially for his first half! He ended 94th out of 2727 runners and 17th out of 209 in his age group. Seriously. He did so well. I'm so proud of him. Here are some pictures from the race.
Last stretch to the finish line!

Keeneland has a horse mascot and he was one of the cutest giant animal costumes I have ever seen. Adalyn LOVED him! She petted his nose like he was a real horse and gave him a hug.
