Splish Splash

My sweet baby girl had goopy eyes yesterday when I picked her up after work. Pink Eye has been passed back and forth between Jonathan and myself the past couple months and it's awful! Neither of us have had it for quite some time so I'm not sure where Adalyn got it. But we made an appointment with the doctor for first thing this morning to confirm and to get some eye drops. Since she can't be around other kids for 24 hours, I got an unexpected day off work with my sweet girl. I decided it would be fun to go to the pool. Then I remembered that I don't have a bathing suit so the pool is out. So I pulled out her old baby tub and filled it up in our front walkway (because I'm classy like that and the yard didn't have any shade) and called it a pool!

She LOVED it. She has always loved bath time but I wasn't sure what she would think about the cold water but she enjoyed it! She was splashing and having so much fun. It was so cute. Adalyn's new "trick" this week is sitting for long periods of time without assistance! I wanted to upload a video of her sitting but I'm having issues with youtube right now (it goes back to the initial google email address issue from last month.) So maybe I'll post that later. Summer Wreath

I made a cute summer wreath a while back and I realized that I never posted about it. It was really easy and I think it turned out bright and sunny!

I was at Hobby Lobby one day and found a roll of fabric and thought that I needed to find a craft just so I could buy it. So I decided that it would be cute to use for a spring wreath. Then I made it and decided it was more of a summer colored wreath. You know...those seasons call for two totally different styles of wreaths! :)

Here is what I used.

 I cut each strip of fabric into three equal pieces and then just tied each one randomly around the wreath form.

 I'm not "country" so I didn't want it to look too "shaggy".  It's right on that boarder though.  I think it screams FUN! I just love the bright colors! I actually have the ribbon over the top of the door and clipped with a magnet on the top of the inside of the door.

Please excuse the look of our front door.  Yes, we have lived in our house over a year and have not yet filled in the holes or painted over the markings from the old owners' door knocker. The front door is a big part of our 2011 Outdoor Project (You can actually see the wreath in the pictures of that post). I am currently taking suggestions for a new color for the door (and shutters too).  I want something fun since our house is a boring white. Here's to good curb appeal!! Happy crafting:)

Memorial Weekend Pictures

Saturday we went out to dinner with my parents at Tony Packo's for dinner. Toledo is known for Packo's and I LOVE the food. They have the best spicy pickles. Adalyn had her first meal at a restaurant so of course I had to document it! She ate her rice and sweet potatoes but I think she was eyeing my coney dog!

Right across the street from Packo's is the Mud Hens ball park. My parents got us tickets to the game.  We got in and sat in our seats - right behind home plate - and then they rolled out the rain tarp. Then the rain started. So we attempted to take Adalyn to her first baseball game but we didn't even get to see the players let alone half an inning. Oh well.

Sunday we met my cousin and her kids at my aunt and uncle's pool. It was hot and sunny and Adalyn dipped her feet in a pool for the first time with her daddy. The water was cold so we didn't use the baby raft but she did get to kick her feet in the water.  Then the clouds rolled in and we got rained out of the pool.

The bathing suit was from a consignment sale and although its cute the bottoms would not stay on! We will need a new suit asap! The hat was from the awesome Gymboree sale for $6. Love it! (Her cheeks were red but not from the sun...it was HOT!)

Monday afternoon my dad grilled out some hamburgers and we had a summer lunch! Picture perfect!

Memorial Day

We went to visit my parents for Memorial Day weekend. We took Friday off and made it a nice 4-day weekend to enjoy family! Unfortunately we didn't have great weather for the weekend but Memorial Day itself was beautiful! Our family has a tradition (for over 60 years now!) to have a picnic cookout at a park for breakfast. I haven't been to the breakfast since college and Jonathan had never been to the picnic so it was his and Adalyn's first Memorial Day breakfast! Part of the tradition is that the men all get to the park early and make breakfast for their individual families and then all of the rest of us get there, decorate the tables and eat good food. YUM! I really miss not having family nearby especially when we get to hang out with my cousins and all of their kids. We've got a big group when we all get together. Here are some pictures from the park. I didn't get a picture of it but most of the kids - including Jonathan - played in the annual softball game. Oh, and part of the tradition is that along with decorating tables in red, white and blue, everyone dresses (except me this year) in red, white, and blue.

Rollover!!

Warning: If you are not a grandparent you may not care whatsoever about this post but I'm posting it anyway.  This is our family journal so I can remember these memories and our way to stay connected to all of our family out of town. 

Saturday Adalyn finally rolled over for the first time!! Of course neither of us saw her do it. (Isn't that how that stuff always happens?) I put her under her jungle gym and then went into the kitchen to make some lunch.  She was just playing away and I saw that she was up on her side chewing on one of the toys hanging and I thought to myself that would be the way she finally will roll over...she will want to chew on something badly enough to roll over to get it! Not even a minute later Jonathan walked in and asked why I put Adalyn on her tummy. (She usually hates tummy time!) That's when we both realized that she got to her tummy by herself! So of course I had to cheer for her and get my camera out.  I think she was pretty proud of herself.  What do you think?

She hasn't rolled over again yet...but I'm sure it will become a regular occurrence soon! I guess we can check off one more milestone! 

UPDATE: I wrote this before I lost my blog for multiple days and she has since turned over again.  She rolled from back to tummy for Ms. Connie right before I went to pick her up on Wednesday (and of course wouldn't do it again when I got there so I could see it.) When we got home on Wednesday she was so happy and giggly so I got out the video camera and while I was videoing she rolled from her tummy to her back!  It is on! She's going to by flying rolling around the house soon!

WE ARE BACK!!!

You all!! We are back!! It was touch and go and many tears shed. (OK, maybe not tears, but I was close!) Moral of the story... Never ever ever change the email address associated with your Blogger login. Never! Long story short, I needed to change my email address and when that email address was deleted (even though we thought we changed it to the new email address) I had NO ACCESS to logging in and my blog just disappeared! WHA?! Talk about stressful!  Jonathan had backed up my 2009 posts but had never backed up my 2010 posts or any posts from this year. And of course I never wrote Adalyn's birth story anywhere else. So I was a bit panicked!

And if you ever get locked out of Blogger or Google don't even try to get customer service help.  There is no email address or phone number.  There is a form you can fill out that doesn't have free space to even write the specifics of your request.  It's the most frustrating thing! And I really don't even know how it came back to me! I do know that Jonathan was playing around with deleting and adding email addresses and then it worked. (It was probably more technical than that.) All I care about is that MY BLOG IS BACK!! Oh how I've missed you and missed writing. Yes, I am aware that I was only gone for two days, but I felt so lost without my google reader/dashboard. And I kept having blogging topic ideas and then remembering that, oh wait, I don't have a blog.

All that to say...Thanks for sticking by and waiting for me to come back! And also? I may look into switching to wordpress after seeing the awful panic stricken days when I could not get customer service help:)
