Easter Egg Hunt

Saturday was the Easter egg hunt at our church. I really like that they split up all of the ages onto different ball fields so Adalyn wasn't trampled by big kids. The eggs are empty so that makes mama happy and Adalyn doesn't know any better. Who needs more sugar, right? Each of the kids got a little goodie bag after they were finished.

The weather was thankfully not raining, but it was dark and cold which didn't really feel like Easter. It felt crazy to put a corduroy coat on Adalyn for an EASTER egg hunt!!  She was so excited for the egg hunt and kept telling us to "hurry" while we were driving there, but of course once we got there and there were lots of kids around, she got super shy and quiet. That little stinker wouldn't smile for a picture once we got to the ball fields! Don't let these pictures fool you, she thoroughly enjoyed herself!

Ready to go!
Meeting the Bunny. She kept her distance, but finally gave a high five.
She was pretty fixated on the different bunnies. She had to go say hi to this one but again kept her distance.
Jonathan keeping Cayden warm. Cayden was a good boy and enjoyed watching all the big kids.
Eli was giving Adalyn some love and although she was so excited to see Eli before we got there, she ended up giving him a bit of a cold shoulder. Maybe she's just playing hard to get? :)
Checking out her basket. Ready to fill it up!
It's nice that Adalyn is still young enough than when they yelled "GO" there was no stampede to get to the eggs. Just nice and calm egg collecting going on.
Slow and steady wins the race fills the basket.

Her basket is overflowing! We actually stopped before all the eggs were picked up because her basket was so full! You give this child a mission and she will complete it and she will complete it well!

 A picture with the bunny.
Eli gave the bunny a hug so Adalyn actually got the nerve to walk over and give it a hug too. I couldn't believe it! I was so proud of her.

Family picture. It looks like a winter picture instead of an Easter picture. I just hope we have better weather next weekend for Easter.
Leaving with all of her eggs and a bit of a smirk. That little stinker. She gets so excited for things like this but then it's like she's overwhelmed during the event.
Funny story about those shoes she's wearing. I put her in a pair of pink polka dot shoes that matched her outfit. She walked downstairs in them and the next thing I knew she was sitting in the recliner taking them off and putting these polka dot shoes on. (And she got them on the correct feet without any help.) She was adamant that she wanted these shoes on and they are neutral enough that I didn't fight it. While we were at the egg thing two different people commented on her cute shoes. Maybe my child has a better sense of style than her mama?? Am I already out of touch??

Shamrock Shuffle

Last weekend Jonathan and I ran in our first race together. Well, not really together in the sense that we ran next to each other, but in the sense that we both had numbers and ran across the start and finish lines. Ha. The Shamrock Shuffle 3K was my first ever race back eons ago. I remember Lindsy and Billie talking me into it back before I was a runner. I was attempting to lose newly-married-weight and had built up to running a mile at a time and they told me that the race environment would take me the extra .86 miles across the finish line. I honestly remember where I was standing in the kitchen of my old house when they convinced me to run with them. They were right and that started my love of running and running in races.

Every year (except last year when I was pregnant with Cayden) I have run the Shamrock Shuffle. Even the year I was pregnant with Adalyn but it was so early we hadn't announced it but I was having morning sickness. Ahhh. Memories. Anyway this race is held downtown and has a good turnout and has a very festive atmosphere. After the race there is a St. Patrick's festival and parade so downtown is buzzing.

This year they changed the race course but it was still fun. Jonathan wanted to push the kids in the Bob stroller, but we weren't sure what the weather would be like so we asked my parents to come in town to be there in case they needed to keep the kids. The weather actually cooperated and he was able to push the kids. Adalyn loved it!

Here are some pictures from our morning!

Jonathan had a phenomenal time even with pushing the double jogger! First of all he had to start at the back of the pack since he had a stroller, so he had to do a lot of weaving through people at the beginning and he ended as the second stroller with a time of 13:25 with a place of 18 out of 136 in his age group!
 Headed toward the finish line!
I haven't run with Billie in so long. We used to be running partners and ran together at least three times a week! After kids (and my severe lack of running) we haven't been able to get together to run. It was so nice to have the time together and was so fun to run and talk together. I was a bit more winded than I used to be so I had a bit of a hard time talking while running. It was sweet of Billie to run with me for the entire race even though I was running at a very slow pace and she had the ability to run much faster! We finished with a time of 22:05. (Pretty sure I used to run a 5k with that time, but I'm just happy I did it and finished it.)
The kids loved running! Cayden fell asleep and Adalyn ate her waffle during the entire race. Like how bundled up Cayden was? Mama was worried about wind in his face:) Thankfully the weather was pretty nice that day and the temperatures were rising.

Our tradition after-the-race-photo. This is my first race pic with Jonathan! I would have never thought that this would happen, but I'm glad that it has and he's into running now!
A picture with papa and nana! Glad they were able to come and cheer for us!
Next week is Jonathan's half marathon that he has been training for. I really hope the weather cooperates so I can take the kids to go cheer him on! I hate waking up early on Saturday mornings, but I love race atmosphere! Spring is here so bring on the races! I should probably sign up for a 5K so that I have something I'm training for and working towards.

7 Month Pictures

So along with the same theme as my other posts, this post is late. Ahem. About 3 weeks late since we're only a week away from 8 months. But better late than never right?  Cayden was a few weeks late for his 6 month check up since his original 6 month well check turned into a sick RSV appointment. Since I didn't have his 6 months stats to post with his 6 month pictures, I'll post his 6 (almost 7) month stats with this post.
Height: 26.5 in - 50%
Weight: 17 lbs 4 oz - 10-25%
Head: 16 in - 2%
His numbers make him sound like a little peanut but he is so filled out that you would never expect his weight to only be in the 25 percentile! Those chubby cheeks are deceptive  And his head? Yep. He is taking after his sister (and daddy!) in that regard. (Yes, all of his hats are still size 0-3 month.)
Just because I thought it was interesting I went back to compare Adalyn's stats with Cayden's. Adalyn's 6 month stats were:
Height: 26 3/4 inches
Weight: 14lbs 13oz
Head: 15 3/4 inches
Wow! They are so close in size! Adalyn also had those same chubby cheeks at this age. This mama needs to stop looking at the old pictures because oh my goodness is time flying and I'm not ok with it!

Sister loves getting in the pictures.

 Slouching but still smiling!
"Show me your teeth." She took that literally. Ha.
It's hard to remember exactly where Cayden was developmentally when we took these pictures since he's changed so much just in the past 3 weeks. At 7 months Cayden was just teetering while sitting. He could sit for short periods with his boppy behind him. He eats homemade veggies that I make and he has yet to get any teeth. Just for giggles, Here's a picture from Adalyn's 7 month post. I really see some similarities between the kids! Their eyes are completely different, but their face shapes seem similar. Adalyn was a full sitter by 7 months and already had teeth. Fun to see how the kids have similarities and differences!

February Pictures

Here are some random pictures from February. Some are from my camera and some are from my phone. It's so much easier to grab my phone to take quick pictures. A lot of the time I don't have the time to grab the camera before the moment is over. Between a crazy busy month at work and sickness hitting our house, I feel like this month flew on by before I could even blink!

I got Adalyn a cute mama bear that has a sling with a baby bear in it for Valentine's Day. She wanted to wear the sling with the baby bear so we wrapped it on her and she was pretty proud.

Sweet baby boy cheering on the CATS!
I absolutely love this little sweater on him. I'm going to cry when he outgrows it. He is now able to sit without the boppy but when I took this picture he was only able to sit using it.
Happy boy.

Adalyn is so sweet with her brother and always loves on him.
Adalyn laid down next to Cayden to read him a book. Love these moments.
Daddy and son wearing matching UK shirts. Cayden's shirt came in some hand-me-down clothes and when I pulled it out of the bag I couldn't believe it since it exactly matches one of Jonathan's UK shirts even down to the Nike Swoosh. They had to take a break from watching the game so I could take their picture.
I can just eat him up. Those cheeks just ask to be kissed.
The weather warmed up and was nice after work one night so I strapped Cayden into the Moby so Adalyn could play outside. I love this face. The double chin... oh my.
Adalyn loves her cozy coup but she's not the best driver. Can you tell? She ended up in the grass numerous times. She could play outside all day long. She never wants to go inside.

Adalyn got some new tennis shoes and she calls them her runnin' shoes. She loves to put them on and then run laps around the house. She thinks she can't run with pants on since she always sees daddy running in shorts, so she she strips down to her little panties to do her runnin'. Also, this month Adalyn became FULLY potty trained!! So exciting! I'm so proud of her!
 Mid-stride and Mid-giggle
So fast! After she runs a few laps she says she's all wet (sweaty) and sometimes she takes her shirt off (like daddy) and then says she needs water. Seriously. Kids are sponges. Glad that daddy's obsession is a healthy one to pass on to her. We probably need to talk about keeping our clothes on when running outside:) ha!

Here's a Sunday picture of their matching Bella Bliss outfits. This was the last time Cayden could wear his. I love them matching!
I love this picture. Cayden received special shoes from my Aunt when he was born. I loved having him wear them. He's still got a little room to grow so hopefully he can wear them more before they are too small. They are usually displayed in his nursery but are perfect for Sunday clothes!
Well, that's a little of our February. I'm sure I missed a few things but since I never have time to post regularly I wanted to get as many pictures uploaded as I could!

Valentine's Day

It's a month late but I'm still going to post our Valentine's Day pictures. I love being able to look back on past years' posts so I feel like I have to post pictures even though it's crazy late.

The kids both had two Valentine's outfits so the day before Valentine's day I dressed them all up and got some pictures. They just looked so cute!

That night I made a little treat for Adalyn to take to her friends at the sitter's house and we made up some Valentine treat bags for her friends.
My little man was happy and smiley getting his cute Valentine outfit on the next morning.

Of course we had to get some pictures before they went to the sitter. I love these two! Seriously. They are holding hands. Melt.

Adalyn was so excited to show us the two Valentine's cards she made us at daycare when I picked her up. Here is one of them. So cute. I love that her sitter does these types of crafts with the kids. Adalyn LOVES them!

We got the kids (and each other) a couple little gifts and I decorated the table with hearts. We also picked up a heart shaped pizza and some delicious cupcakes. We gave Adalyn full access to a cupcake and she was into it! She pretty much finished that thing off!

Of course she had to take breaks to clean her face off. It is so funny how much she loves napkins.
And back for more. I think she ate all of that icing! She's her mama's girl!
My boys.
He is seriously the happiest baby. Eat.Him.Up.
 He loves his daddy.
Waiting so patiently to open presents.

I have so many wonderful memories of the little holidays like Valentine's Day growing up. I know that some people don't really celebrate, but I remember my mom always making such a big deal of making a pretty table and special (red) foods for Valentine's day. I want to create the same types of wonderful memories for my family. I try to decorate the house for each holiday and when the Valentine's stuff came out a few weeks ago Adalyn ran around the house pointing out all the hearts. It makes me realize that all the work of putting the decorations up is so worth it when I see everything through her eyes. I'm so blessed with wonderful parents and a wonderful husband and kids. I feel loved!
