Nursery paint and some crafts

This weekend Jonathan and my dad were hard at work on the nursery.  It took a very long time for us to pick out two colors of pink that were in the same color family.  Please look at the before picture to see just how many different swatches were painted on the wall.  Thank goodness for sample paint sizes!

We had a bit of a "freak-out moment" after my dad painted the "light" color on the entire wall and it ended up being the exact color that was supposed to be the "dark" color on the bottom of the wall.  We had had a formula mixed at Lowe's and I guess it looked lighter in a sample than in a gallon.  So thanks to my parents for some quick thinking, we bought a gallon of white paint and added that to 2/3 of a gallon of the "dark" paint and they came up with the "light" color for the walls.  So it scared me but it ended up working in the long run!

While my mom and I were at Beth Moore on Saturday the guys installed the chair rail and it just pulled the room together!  I think they did a great job!  Jonathan has never installed a chair rail before and I love the finished look. (Look out J that means that we for sure will have a DIY project sometime in the future installing chair rails in the dining room!)  For the cost of the chair rail, it's a fairly inexpensive way to completely transform a room!

After the paint was dried on the chair rail, trim and inside the closet, the guys put the crib together and moved the furniture in! (We are still waiting on a chest and a glider on order.)  The room finally looks like it's a nursery!!  Here are a few pictures so you can see it start to come together.  Wall decorations will come soon enough!

Don't worry Dakota we're not going to forget about you!  Doesn't he look confused?
Those items will obviously not stay on the changing table once the rest of the furniture is in the room...
Nicely painted closet with a bunch of consignment clothes.  I can't wait to organize the closet by adding another row of shelving and putting full doors on it!
Jonathan and my dad also installed a ceiling fan!  I wanted a dimming overhead light so I'm excited Jonathan was able to do that!  Unfortunately I don't have a before picture of the horrible light fixture that was in here to begin with, but it was the same fixture that had been in the guest room.  Do you remember this a few months back?  It was A) ugly B) looked like it was 50 years old and C) gave off the worst yellow light.  So now we have this wonderful fan.  (I know fans aren't the most decorative thing in a room, but it is completely necessary in this room.)

And can you tell I've been at Hobby Lobby and Hancock?  I got everything 50 to 60% off at both stores!  Here are three different projects that I can't wait to start!!
You'll just have to wait to see what gets made... :)  I'm pretty excited about it!
